John Andazola, M.D., FAAFP
John Andazola, M.D., FAAFP, is Program Director for the Southern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He received his M.D. from the University of New Mexico School Of Medicine in 1997. During his post-graduate work, he completed a Family Medicine residency at the Southern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program, a fellowship in Advanced Hospital Training for Family Physicians (AHTFP) in Phoenix, and a Faculty Development Fellowship at the University of Arizona. After completing his fellowships in 2003, Dr. Andazola joined the AHTFP faculty, where he served until 2009.
Dr. Andazola has been involved in academic medicine his entire career and has presented at numerous local, state and national conferences. He has authored several textbook chapters in a leading Family Medicine procedural text book, as well as several publications. He is an active member of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors and the American Academy of Family Medicine, and he sits on several hospital and state committees. His major interests include medical education, integrated behavioral health and border health. He is an inaugural member of LifePoint’s National Physician Advisory Board.
