Consider the story of Butch Trent, of Dodge City, Kansas.

With a history of heart problems, Butch had previously been forced to travel more than 2 1/2 hours to Wichita for specialized care. But then the team at LifePoint's Western Plains Medical Complex identified the need for top-level cardiac care and recruited board-certified cardiologists to Dodge City. These highly-trained specialists were able to come to the community because LifePoint and the hospital had recently constructed a $2.8 million state-of-the-art Heart Center at Western Plains.

So recently, when Butch started feeling light-headed and dizzy, he immediately went to The Heart Center, where the problem was quickly diagnosed. Doctors discovered an 85 percent blockage in one artery. A blocked stent was replaced and a second stent put in as a backup. After one night in the hospital ICU, Butch was back home the next day.
