Located in the southwestern part of West Virginia, the city of Logan offers the best in family friendly living, surrounded by spectacular mountains and scenic countrysides.

The Hospital
Logan Regional Medical Center is a 132 bed acute care hospital. Guyan Valley Hospital is a licensed 19-bed critical access facility. Together, the two hospitals offer a full range of services. Logan Regional has opened a $1.1 million Acute Physical Rehabilitation Unit, and has broken ground on a $17 million Emergency Department/Women's Center that will add 42,000 square feet to the facility and renovate 8,000 square feet. The new Emergency Department will include 22 rooms, a portable X-ray unit, CAT scan, portable ultrasound, X-ray room and three trauma rooms. PACS Technology has also been installed. The second floor Women's Center will offer three labor and delivery suites, a staging area and a nine-bed nursery. There's a new 25,000-square foot Life Services Center in Holden, and the hospital recently purchased over $4.2 million in state-of-the-art medical equipment.

Guyan Valley offers a 24-hour Emergency Department. Respiratory Therapists, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists provide prescribed patient care that includes IV Therapy and Wound Care. Out-patient Services include an ambulatory clinic, lab, x-ray, and respiratory department. Inpatient services include Oncology Services, Acute and Swing Bed Care and Birthing Room. Outpatient services include Mammograms, a Certified Trauma Center, Oncology Services, Physical Rehabilitation, a Sleep Center and a Smoking Cessation Program.

The Community
The city of Logan is alive with special events throughout the year. During October, the Shawnee Trail Encampment features daily frontier living, exhibits by artisans, craftsmen and "Buck-skinners" portraying characters from the 1780s to the 1800s. The city hosts a Civil War Reenactment each September. During the holiday season, Chief Logan State Park becomes a winter wonderland, with beautiful lights on display as you drive through the park. Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College offers two-year associate degrees, in addition to certificates in more than 20 technical and occupational career fields. Southern is partnered with WV State University, Concord College, and Marshall University to offer a 2 plus 2 program whereby students can complete their 4-year degree. High school graduates from nine counties in southern West Virginia and eastern Kentucky attend the college.

Recreation
Camping, fishing, golfing, hiking, mountain biking, skiing-West Virginia has it all. The state is famous for its white water rafting and has always been considered the greatest hunting area east of the Mississippi. The 4,000-acre Chief Logan State Park, located just four miles north of the city of Logan, is one of the most visited in the state park system. The park offers a 25-site campground, modern restaurant, outdoor amphitheater, conference center and wildlife center. The recreation enthusiast can enjoy 18 miles of hiking trails, a swimming pool with water slide, tennis, and miniature golf. Some trails are open for mountain bike enthusiasts. Picnic shelters and playgrounds are found throughout the park. A bocce court is also available. Another attraction at the park is a wildlife exhibit which features animals native to West Virginia: black bears, bobcats, barred owls, red shouldered hawks, wild boar and reptiles. Nearby is the Hatfield and McCoy Trail, open to ATVs, motorcycles, mountain bikers, horses and hikers.
